The story of Pink Floyd has seen it’s ups and downs over the years. With the loss of band leader Syd Barrett came a change in direction and an inspiration that led the Floyd to the very top of the Rock pile.
Floydian Slips is the musical story of Pink Floyd told in a relaxed conversational style by a 4 piece band fronted by Alan Day and Sven Golden. Songs featured in this tribute include classic favorites … with little known facts about the history of Pink Floyd slipped in. Not quiet desperation … but quiet celebration.
When the show first premiered at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, it was described by “Die Burger” as one of the five shows not to be missed. Running time is about 120 minutes including interval and advance booking is advised.

Hi there
Saw Floydian Slips on Friday night and was quite disappointed, having seen the show about 2 years ago and really looking forward to a repeat. The first time round was excellent but this time the four musicians just didn’t bond, the drummer looked like he wanted to be anywhere else but there, and there were plenty of duff notes – perhaps not enough rehearsal? Apart from this, the theatre was exceptionally hot and stuffy and this put half the audience to sleep. I know you have to keep windows closed due to noise issues, but surely you could install a few fans? Just some constructive criticism….. apart from that, the food was quite good.
Best wishes,
Deni Brown
Dear Demi
I was there the same night. I also saw them 2 years ago and thought: “Dam they are good, Imagine what they would be like with a rhythm section”. Well I can only say they were excellent. The fact that they can now do money, time and set the controls for the heart of the sun (song that were close to impossible to do without drums and a base) is awsome. Technically I thought they had improved and man Alans new guitar sounds fantastic. To Alan, Sven, Jeanne and Paul you guys are great. We were a group of 5 people and one of my friends who by the way is also a guitarist in a band said that this was the best show he had seen! I think I am going again now that the show has been extended. By the way the band was so good I forgot to eat.
Floydian Slips are indeed South Africa’s original Pink Floyd Tribute Band.
Thanks
Owen
I remember that night … it must have been the hottest day of the year!! Even more so if you are in front of the lights. I believe Deni’s comments are fair … I did hit some bum notes that night (actually, with something like doing a whole album like Dark Side of the Moon live – someone is bound to slip up now & then and unlike Floyd we can’t touch up the recording in post production.)
Our best nights were 2nd week Friday and the whole of Week 3 .. nights on which the audiences were particularly enthusiastic! The drummer? Paul Tizzard is one of the best drummers I have ever had the pleasure to play with. He played flawlessly in Nick Masons style for the entire run of the show. It’s just his way to play calmly with his eyes shut. He defiantly would not have wanted to be anywhere else except maybe a real Pink Floyd concert. Thanks for the feedback (and the kind words Owen) hope to see you again.

Some constuctive criticism! More vocals! Dont’t think sven should sing, he’s good on the keys but PF vocals is not for everyone (including myself).
the bassist is good!
