A little Puck-induced mischievous magic!
Fun, funky, feisty, twinkly Shakespeare for Christmas! Now in Cape Town from the NAF acclaimed production in 2008. Fabulous versatile cast romp through a brisk adaptation of Shakespeare’s wonderful comedy. From Puck’s point of view, there is; confusion, chaos. Nothing is quite what it seems, as in any dream. Puck’s story starts with a welcome by the impish and mischievous Puck, who then takes the audience on a mystical and captivating journey of love, magic and perception.
“enchanting”
“mystical and captivating journey of love, magic and perception.”
“Using Shakespeare’s original language and text, Wylde has expertly sculpted the performance so that all age groups yelp and snort with laughter throughout.”
(Cue Review, Nicola Saner Sat 28 June 2008)
“ Brilliant comedic acting” (CSS) (CUE NAF 2008)
“a delight”
“It was a good sign to hear the children in the audience giggle regularly…. Shakespeare certainly had a Puckish sense of humour!”

HARRY CURTIS : THE PLEASURE OF YOUR COMPANY
1 comment so far
The singing phenomenon that is Harry Curtis has been some time coming. Professionally a Chartered Accountant, music is in his blood and is his true passion. His music career really only started in April 2005 with a concert at Dockside, Century City, Cape Town. Two albums followed late in 2005 [tributes to David Gates and Perry Como]. More performances and concerts followed and then more albums honouring the music of Bobby Darin, Trini Lopez, Matt Munro, Dusty Springfield, Johnny Mathis, Dean Martin, Perry Como and Bing Crosby. And then more concerts and all the time the word spread and the following grew. Harry Curtis’ recently launched Bing Crosby album has done very well and this and his other albums are regularly played on Fine Music Radio.

Harry Curtis’ credo : “I have been involved in numerous fund raising events over the year and have performed at many senior citizen centres in Cape Town, mostly free of charge. These have been hugely rewarding and at times quite emotional events. I did some successful fundraising in December for Safeline – www.safeline.org.za and Village Care Centre – www.villagecc.co.za which are involved with counselling abused women and children and caring for the aged. After visiting these centres and witnessing the distressing nature of the work and the pitiful conditions in which these organisations operate, I will continue to support them whenever I can. The net proceeds of the performances at Kalk Bay will go to these two organisations. Please support this initiative by coming to the concerts and I promise you I won’t let you down regarding the performance.”
Go to Harry Curtis’ website and you can listen to examples of this fantastic talent – you can listen to each song for a minute.
THE WAY FORWARD
12commentsAhead of KBT re-opening in August 2009, changes have been made to both the way we present shows and in regard to the catering available at performances. Here are the details – if you have any queries, please use the comments facility to ask your questions -
SHOWS
Previously all shows at KBT were selected by us and to some extent produced by us. From now on only some of the shows will be. So that you know which they are, we will describe these shows as “produced [or co-produced] by KBT”].
For the rest of time, we will be renting the KBT space to other producers and performers on what is called a “receiving house basis” which means that we will let the space to whoever wants to hire it and they will run their own shows with little or no involvement from us – they will be responsible for their own bookings, so you will have to look carefully at booking line numbers given on advertisements and websites etc.
CATERING
Set menu 3 course meals will no longer be offered at KBT. The upstairs section is being turned into a bar that will serve light meals, snacks and drinks [we will put a typical menu on this site shortly]. When you book theatre tickets you will be asked if you want, or are likely to want, something to eat on the evening in question – this will be to establish roughly what demand for food there is likely to be on that evening. You can order when you get there [and also straight after the show if you like]. The menu will be such that you can put together a full meal if you want but you don’t have to. Last food orders before the show will be at about 20h00 and there will be no service during the show although, as always, you can take drinks into the show.
Functions will still be catered for and if you are interetsed in a function, we will put you in direct touch with the people running the bar who will quote you for the function and make all the arrangements with you.
