“MY CV : ONE WOMAN @ WORK” is a fun look at what we’re supposed to be doing in this odd world. What are we ‘working’ towards? Mary Steward tries to work it out from the early questions of “ What do you want to be when you’re big?” to pondering a name on a business card thirty years later and wondering “is this it?” A cast of wonderful characters (all played by Mary) include a scary Maths teacher, frustrated secretary and a Clinique saleslady. Add a corporate-jargon-sprouting brand manager and a smooth talking salesman, and you’re starting to get a sense of what work is all about.
The performance style is engaging, intimate and humorous. The audience feel as if they are sharing in the truthful confessions of someone’s journal. Steward’s humorous and insightful reflection on discovering her own life purpose nudges you to consider your own.
“MY CV” comes hot on the heels of “Bridesmaid” which enjoyed two successful runs at KBT this year as well as being a hit in Grahamstown. The actor and director combo of Steward and Emma Durden recieved rave reviews for superb detail, script and delivery. Don’t miss this new delight!

CHANGES AT KBT

When KBT started almost 4 years ago, the primary motivating factor was to provide a venue at which some of the very many talented performers in South Africa could display their work. There were then, and there are now, too few places where the so-called fringe type shows can be staged. That remains our motivation today.
In recent months we have been faced with a squeeze between paying performers at a rate at which they earn a reasonably decent living and the cost of running a restaurant on a set menu basis. Reluctantly we have concluded that we are not able to do so and maintain ticket prices at levels acceptable to the market.
So with effect from December 03, we welcome on board Linda Barnard who will be running the bar and the kitchen – she has been assisting in the kitchen for some time now. We will stop offering set menu meals and instead offer a menu from which you can choose whatever you want to eat. If you want to order a 3-course meal, you can do so but if you want only dessert and coffee, so be it. It is your choice as to what you eat and how much you spend. The bar will be open both before and after the show.
Functions and parties [with specific menus] will still be catered for and these can be discussed with Linda direct.
We plan on starting shows 30 minutes earlier at 20h00 and doors will open at 18h30. Ticket and meal booking arrangements remain unchanged.
Your support over the last few years has meant a great deal to us and we hope that you will continue that support at the “new” KBT.
